Teaching Methodology and Approach
Assess and plan:
Tutors for each paper meet to discuss the best way to structure the delivery of the course. Given the syllabus and study guide for the papers, topics are allocated and a lecture plan is developed for the course (scheme of work). At this stage, efforts are made to ensure that the teaching approach is standardized especially as it relates to question practice and structure of delivery across all streams. Students will also obtain our lecture plan for the diet at the beginning of the diet so that you can track progress and plan your study accordingly.
Teach and Engage:
We believe in a participatory learning style where students are continuously engaged and giving a chance to ask questions. Our study notes and PowerPoint presentations are used to enhance the efficiency of this process. Past ACCA questions are also practiced to ensure the concepts are reinforced. Questions are generally practiced at the end of each area of the syllabus. Assignments are also given and recorded in your assignment checklist contained in your study notes. Generally, students are given 5 to 6 days to solve each assignment after which they are reviewed with the tutor in the class. When the tutor prefers to collect, mark and input comments on answer scripts for the assignment, this may take an additional 5 days before responses are received.
Practice and Review:
Our classes are generally focused on developing students understanding the base concepts and developing thier ability to understand exam techniques through adequate question practice. We also give assignments regularly based on carefully selected questions and students use an assignment tracker to monitor their progress. Every Course taught irrespective of the program has a dedicated course leader and a course director . They serve as econtact points regarding any issues related to the course. Practife test and mock exams are also held across all courses. The first practice tests occurs after 50% of lectures have been covered, the second practise test occurs after 75% of lectures have been covered and the final practice mock test occurs after lectures have been completed and is usually admitted 3 to 4 weeks before the exams and also they take place before the final revision day. Marked scripts are provided to the candidates during the final revision day containing comments on areas where improvement is required.

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY
Policy: At Ivy League Associates, we have a zero tolerance policy on class cancellation. Only in very extremely rare and uncontrollable cases do we have a class cancelled. While recognizing these circumstances, the college ensures that its class cancellation rate is not more than 1% of combined total number of lectures for any diet.
Procedures: At the beginning of every diet, a lecture plan is created which makes each lecturer aware of applicable lecture days. Lecturers are required to inform the subject lead (Director in charge of the paper) of their absence ahead of time so that necessary adjustments are made. A minimum of 48 hour notice is required. The lecture plans always contain a backup lecturer who is usually on standby in case of unforeseen circumstances. This makes it almost impossible for a class to be cancelled
In the unlikely event that the procedures above are not met and a class has to be cancelled (i.e. back up lecturer is also not available) the procedures will be dependent on the adequacy of the notice period:
At least one week before the lecture day/week: The subject lead or chief registrar informs all students in the class the weekend before the relevant class that is to be cancelled. Text messages and emails are then sent afterwards to all students just in case some students were not around on the day the announcement was made.
At least two hours before the class: Text messages, emails and chat messages (for students on our WhatsApp social media groups) are sent to immediately inform students of the event. Where the class contains a sizeable number of students, phone calls are placed to enhance effectiveness.
Finally, there may be some extreme situations where students are already seated in the class but the lecturer is unable to make the class due to unforeseen events occurring without any forewarning such as sudden health issues, robbery, accident, car breakdowns on the highway etc. In such cases and in the absence of other possible options the Chief Operating Officer immediately addresses the students informing them of the event and apologizing accordingly. Adequate arrangements are then made to cover up for the missing lecture.
Students are advised to ensure that their phone numbers and emails made available on the registration forms are accurate.
